Welcome to Melana Shepherd's home on the web! Our real home is located 30 miles west of Atlanta. We have owned and loved German Shepherds for more then four decades. As a hobby,in the early 90's we began pursuing an interest in competing with our dogs in AKC conformation shows. With limited breeding, we are proud to have produced 14 AKC Champions, 2 ROMs, Top 10 Producing dam, Best In Futurity winners, multiple GSDCA National/Futurity/Maturity placers; performance title winners, and most importantly many happy, healthy family companions. Our infrequent litters are planned with goal of producing beautiful, healthy and sound representatives of the breed who are as close as possible to the AKC standard - the written description of the correct structure, intelligence, and movement unique to this breed. These same "standards" are what also makes them the perfect loyal family companions. Our foundation dam is GSDCA 13 Club Member, Melana's Obsession v Clihu, HIC ROM OFA H/E (aka "Eden"). Eden, earned the coveted GSDCA Register of Merit Dam title for her outstanding producing ability with 4 AKC Champion progeny to her credit, including 2008 Register of Merit & Top Producing Dam, Ch. Melana's Pandemonium ROM. Eden lived 141/2 happy, healthy and active years- making our breeding program built upon the foundation of her good health and longevity. Melana's German Shepherds are easily recognizable by their striking good looks, strong male heads, plush coats, rich pigment, excellent movement, and loyal dispositions; suitable for show, performance or companionship that anyone would be proud to own.
